2. Linear Models for Continuous Data

Errata 2006

These are errors found in the pdf version dated September 2006. They have been corected in the html pages, which we try to keep always up-to-date.

In Chapter 3, Section 3.7.2, the comment following Table 3.16 should read "... and 0.03 standard deviations more (for a total of 0.04) if she does not." The point here is that total effect for women who want no more children is 0.0129 + 0.0305 = 0.0434 (not 0.0305). [gr]

In Section 3.3.3 in the paragraph starting "From the estimated logit effect of 1.049 and its standard error we can calculate a 95% confidence interval with boundaries (0.111, 1.266)." The boundaries should be (0.831, 1.267). The exponentiated values quoted later (2.30, 3.55) are correct. [Thanks to J. Marcus.]

In Chapter 7 the coefficients for 6-12 months are missing from Table 7.3. The Web version here is OK. [Thanks for J. Colgan.]

Old Errata

The errors listed below have been corrected in the pdf version dated September 2006. I am keeping the list here just in case you have printed an earlier version.

Chapter 2

- p. 33 last line, To best should be The best

- p. 43 first paragraph, seven parameters but then 8 are listed

- p. 49 second paragraph of 2.9.1, Using Equation 2.9 should be Using Equation 2.7 I think

- p. 52 second centered equation on the page, you may want to make bold the second X(i)

Chapter 3

- p. 15 (line 4) The expected number of users should be 665.3 (not 634.5) [K.Yüksel].

- p. 25 The value for the Constant in the Net effect column should be -1.966 instead of -1.066, I believe.

- p. 36 very top line, One we should be Once we

- p. 36 first paragraph, first sentence, controlling for one of both should be or both

- p. 36 first paragraph of 3.6.4, second sentence after the first centered equation, 0, an ( should be and

- p. 24 MCullagh should be McCullagh I believe

Chapter 10

-Table 7.3. The age estimates are missing the values for age 6-12 months, although these are shown in the Stata logs. I have corrected the html [gr].
